| General Description: We are a congregation of the Episcopal Church, the American branch of the 70-million member Anglican Communion of churches descended from the Church of England. As Cathedral, CCC is the home church and ceremonial seat of the Bishop of Indianapolis, who oversees 46 congregations in central and southern Indiana.
Christ Church Cathedral has a strong commitment to serving the needs of others. Members serve in a variety of ways: through volunteer work, through serving on guilds and committees, and through active worship. In addition, the Cathedral gives financial support to a variety of ministries, including two major institutions in Indianapolis: The Damien Center, which serves those with HIV and related diseases, and the Dayspring Center, which provides assistance and shelter for homeless families. The church was founded in 1837, and the present building was constructed in 1857. It is the oldest structure on the Circle and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
