American Indian Center of Indiana, Inc.   City: Indianapolis   General Description: The mission of the American Indian Center of Indiana Inc. is to offer comprehensive workforce development services to American Indians in Indiana. Our objective is to integrate employment and training services that prepare job seekers for careers, through collaboration with businesses, educational institutions and other key community organizations. The American Indian Center of Indiana Inc. aspires to promote a sense of unification among the American Indian people in Indiana to achieve personal, economic, social and cultural development. The 2000 census data indicates that we are a diverse people. Indian people from Indiana represent over two hundred tribes from North America. In Indiana, a state named for our people, there are Lakota, Comanche, Chippewa, Ottawa, Cherokee, Seminole, Hopi, Navajo, and Zuni just to name of few of the tribes whose people have chosen our beautiful state in which to live. In addition to tribal people from other states and Indian nations, there are the people native to Indiana. Arthritis Foundation - Indiana Chapter   City: Indianapolis   General Description: The Arthritis Foundation serves as a resource for individuals with arthritis by providing educational information thorough public and professional, health fairs, physician referrals and speaking engagements. The Arthritis Foundation raises money through local events such as the Jingle Bell Run and Arthritis Walk for research to find a cure for arthritis. Our advocacy efforts encourage government leaders to support the Arthritis Prevention Control and Cure Act for improved healthcare, increased funding and address the need for pediatric rheumatologists.
 
Community Addiction Services of Indiana   City: Indianapolis   General Description: CASI begins as the Near Eastside Alternative Project, at the Near Eastside Multi-Service Center (NEMSC) as the first adolescent alcohol and drug abuse alternative prevention project in Indianapolis.
 
Damien Center   City: Indianapolis   General Description: The Damien Center was established in 1987 to respond to the growing AIDS crisis in Indianapolis. Initially staffed entirely by volunteers, the Center has grown into the largest HIV/AIDS service organization in Indiana and is recognized nationally for its leadership and innovation in care and prevention programs. Programs and services are designed to empower persons to overcome the challenges encountered when living with HIV/AIDS, to remain independent and productive. Our prevention team works throughout the community to stop the spread of HIV through awareness, education, counseling and support. We offer free and confidential HIV testing.
 
Dress for Success Indianapolis   City: Indianapolis   General Description: Dress for Success Indianapolis (DFSI) is a non-profit organization committed to promoting the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life. DFSI was granted its charter in May 1999 to the founding Executive Director, Ms. Talene Shuck. Currently, DFSI operates two programs, Suits for Success and Professional Women's Group. Suits for Success has been in operation since 2000, when the first client was suited. Professional Women's Group (PWG) launched in April 2006. As of April 2007, more than 2,900 women have been served. An anticipated 850 women will be served in 2007 alone.
 
ESC: Programs of Junior Achievement   City: Indianapolis   General Description: ESC Education Programs enhance individual potential by assisting students, job seekers, and educators through Mentoring, Job Preparedness Workshops, and Science Comes Alive! The services result in inspiring participants to achieve greater heights. ESC Management Assistance Program provides capacity building and critical management consulting to organizations to create an even greater impact upon our community.
 
Eagle Creek Park Foundation   City: Indianapolis   General Description: Eagle Creek Park Foundation, Inc. was formed in 1978, to protect, promote, enhance and support Eagle Creek Park. Eagle Creek Park is the only Indy Park required to fund itself. To that end, Foundation volunteers donate capital and time to achieve that goal.
 
FACE   City: Indianapolis   General Description: Leading the fight against pet overpopulation. FACE's high-volume spay/neuter is working in Indianapolis. Intake and euthanasia numbers are dropping. Several years ago, FACE came to the people of Indianapolis with a simple but dramatic proposal. FACE said that a high-volume, low-cost spay/neuter clinic was long overdue in Indianapolis, would be much in demand, and within three to five years of opening, the number of animals entering and dying in local shelters would begin to drop dramatically. And that is exactly what has happened!
 
Fletcher Place Community Center   City: Indianapolis   General Description: Fletcher Place Ministries mission is to break the cycle of poverty through the compassion of Jesus Christ. We provide programs that help with immediate needs for food and clothing and with long term solutions through life skills, literacy and computer classes. All of our programs are free to those in need - the cost is covered through donations. Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana, Inc.   City: Indianapolis   General Description: Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana, Inc., a 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit, was founded in a 3-1/2 car garage in 1980 by a group of people concerned about the growing problem of hunger in Indianapolis. Early in 1981, Gleaners received a grant from the Lilly Endowment to network with Indiana communities that wanted to develop food banks. Today, nine food banks operate to provide food to charities that feed the hungry. As Gleaners enters its 27th year, the food bank has distributed more than 195 million pounds of food and critical grocery products to charities that serve the people in need of emergency food assistance.

Pike Performing Arts Center   City: Indianapolis   General Description: The Pike Performing Arts Center (PPAC), located in northwest Indianapolis, first opened its doors in 1996. This impressive facility houses a nearly 1500-seat Auditorium and a 150-seat Studio Theatre, complemented with state-of-the-art equipment. Being both an educational and community focused venue, we are home to the outstanding Pike High School Performing Arts Department, as well as being available for use by outside organizations. The Box Office is looking for several people who would like to assist in ticket sales during the week-day. Some computer literacy would be helpful and good telephone skills are a must. Volunteers can work for as little as 2 hrs-1 day per week or more time can be scheduled. 10am - 4pm monday through friday. Each volunteer is eligible to receive 2 free tickets per show for any PPAC sponsored presentation during the year.

Second Helpings also trains unemployed and underemployed adults for meaningful careers in the culinary industry.
